Control cables feature copper conductors. Nominal cross-sectional areas and core counts are as follows: 2.5 mm² and below (2–61 cores); 4–6 mm² (2–14 cores); and 10 mm² (2–10 cores). Regarding operating temperatures, rubber insulation is rated for 65°C, while PVC insulation comes in two ratings: 70°C and 105°C. Control cables used in computer systems typically employ insulation materials such as PVC, polyethylene (PE), cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), or fluoroplastics.
