The KVVR cable is a standard-specification, multi-conductor flexible copper control cable featuring PVC insulation and a PVC outer sheath. It finds broad application across industrial automation systems, monitoring circuits, and electrical control panels.
Its type designation adheres to the established Chinese classification system under GB/T 9330: the prefix K indicates Control, the double V signifies PVC-based insulation and sheathing, and the suffix R (abbreviated from ruan) denotes a fine-stranded, pliable conductor construction.
Selecting Between KVVR and Related Variants
When procuring factory-length reels, you may come across closely related cable types that diverge from the standard KVVR configuration:
KVV vs. KVVR: The base KVV control cable employs rigid Class 1 or Class 2 solid conductors, intended solely for fixed, static tray installations. Opt for KVVR when the application calls for bending, limited motion, or adaptable routing.
KVVR vs. KVVRP (Shielded): The standard KVVR does not incorporate electromagnetic shielding. For signal lines running parallel to high-current feeders, large motors, or variable-frequency drives (VFDs), KVVRP is recommended-it features a braided copper screen that attenuates electrical noise interference.
ZR-KVVR (Flame-Retardant): In areas governed by stringent fire-safety regulations, specify the ZR- prefix. This denotes a specially modified flame-retardant formulation that ceases burning upon removal of an ignition source.
Advantages
High Mechanical Flexibility
By replacing a rigid solid copper conductor with dozens of fine, closely packed micro-wires, KVVR can withstand repeated bending within tight equipment cabinets, cable carriers, and conduit runs without succumbing to metal fatigue or work-hardening.
Space-Saving Design
Its smooth PVC exterior and exceptional pliability facilitate straightforward threading and routing through congested control panels, PLC termination boxes, and DCS monitoring infrastructures.

Broad Environmental Protection
The structural PVC compound shields the internal copper conductors against light moisture exposure, incidental oil contact, surface wear, and typical chemical degradation found in standard industrial atmospheres.
